Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already have. This can be done by any item upgrade upgrader NPC.

Generally, upgrades boost an item upgrader mod's main stats and provide extra benefits, based on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield, for FB Sorcs or Goldwraps for caster builds.

Armour

Armour is one of the key things that keeps Link protected from injury in most situations. While it cannot be upgraded like weapons, it is able to be improved in various ways to increase its defence capabilities.

The fundamental idea behind armour is to protect the person or animal from harm or injury whether from physical attack or from a range of dangers posed by the environment and activities. Historically, most armour was made from leather or fabric, but metal protections were also utilized, especially for military applications like heavy cavalry and combat drones.

Like weapons there are a myriad of ways in which armor can be upgraded, but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain offers a different degree of improvement with higher levels of protection requiring more rupees and other materials.

First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied they aren't able to be removed in the event that you own a piece of gear with the same upgrade. You should only apply the most powerful upgrades to your equipment and make sure that you have all the components needed to complete them.

When it comes to acquiring the required upgrade components you'll find them in various locations around Hyrule such as merchants, shrines, and even enemies. They're usually identified with an orange triangle or a gold circle and are available in large quantities as you progress. They could appear randomly, but there is a possibility that getting certain upgrades will trigger a quest which will reward you with even more.

It's also worth noting that although the level of protection offered by each upgrade varies, it is the same for all upgrades and will always be better than nothing. A complete set of upgraded armor will give you a strong defense boost that will protect against any kind of attack, except magic. This makes it a formidable weapon for any class.

Weapons

You can upgrade your guns with special upgrades that make them truly unique. These upgrades can boost damage or change the stats of the weapon in accordance with your build. They can also unlock new attachments like unique enchantments, different types of ammunition, as well as aesthetic options.

Prioritize upgrading your most-used slot items first. Then upgrade the ones you're not likely to replace in the near future. If you're planning on playing an asymmetrical build, for example, upgrade your weapon first, then your chest and shoulders before your hands and feet. Similar principles apply to Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that some products may be superior to others based on the style of play you prefer. Similar is the case for Armour and reforges, with some having superior performance over others.

Magic Items

A character is able to upgrade only one magic item upgrade. If an upgrade plan is cancelled then any subsequent upgrades for that item will not begin. Magic items that are upgraded cost twice the amount of gold they normally cost to create or purchase, but they can also offer additional advantages.

A magical item is any item with special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, but some are also armor, shields as well as cloaks, potions rings, scrolls and other items. Some of these items have a sense of being.

Most magic items can be upgraded to be infused with additional abilities. This makes them more useful for a player, or it can aid them in overcoming an especially difficult challenge. A weapon that is infused can provide bonus damage against a particular enemy type, for example. This is especially beneficial for characters who have reached a level where they are likely to face a single type of monster repeatedly in the dungeons.

These items that are enchanted generally require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell cast is determined by rolling an array of tables based on the number of Intelligence points spent.

Other enchanted items might let the user change their appearance, or create an entirely new one. They can be especially useful for characters who have had to leave their home, or are in a place where they may not be welcomed. An item that is magical can give them an invisible effect, or perhaps make them invisible to anyone other than a selected person.

Utility Items

Utility items are anything that isn't part of the categories of Armor or Clothing and are able to perform a variety of capabilities. Utility items are not compatible with each other, as opposed to Armor or Weapons. Most utility items have an effect that a player can activate by using them however, some come with additional capabilities that are triggered when the user presses an action button or activates the ability.

The Flashlight is the most common accessory. It is used to illuminate the area around it. Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. A variety of utilitarian items can be quickly produced in the Engineering section while others are unlockable through Research projects or experimental projects in the Proving Ground.

Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the items they have in their usual inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness.

The majority of utilitarian items provide the player with a navigational advantage or increase the effectiveness of a particular combat skill. Sharpening stones, made by the Weaponsmith can boost power and Ferocity, while Maintenance Oils, made by the Huntsman will increase concentration and healing power. Other items of utility can be used by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.

XCOM soldiers can equip a single utility item to begin the campaign. A second slot is available once you have completed certain research, engineering, or research projects on the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are created by equipping the Grenade Launcher, which lets the player equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot, while an offensive grenade is equipped in the main slot for grenades.
